Mass shipments of AMD FX chips - in October, despite the September announcement? 02.08.2021 [14:23], Konstantin Khodakovsky

Taiwanese source Digitimes reports that AMD intends to begin mass production of its FX processors with the new Bulldozer architecture in August and to make their official announcement in September. Unfortunately, according to sources from among motherboard manufacturers, at first it will be difficult to find processors in retail, since mass shipments will begin only in October.

The same sources say there will be 4 processors initially: the eight-core FX-8150 (125W) and the FX-8100 (95W), the six-core FX-6100 (95W) and the quad-core FX-4100 (95W). Four more chips will be introduced in the first quarter of 2021: FX-8170 and FX-8120, FX-6120 and FX-4120. It is curious that the triple-core model FX-3150 for the OEM market is also mentioned. If this is true, then AMD, it turns out, is going to disable part of one of the two 2-core modules in this processor.

Sources say that already in the first quarter of 2021, the share of FX chips in the supply of AMD desktop processors should reach 20%.
